Ekadashi Vrat Udyapan Puja
Ekadashi Vrat Udyapan Puja is the concluding ceremony performed after completing a series of Ekadashi fasts. Devotees undertake this ritual to express gratitude to Lord Vishnu and formally mark the fulfillment of their vow (vrat).
Ekadashi Vrat is observed on the eleventh day of the lunar cycle (both Shukla and Krishna Paksha) and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. After observing Ekadashi fasts for a fixed number (usually 24 or 26), or even lifelong, many devotees perform the Udyapan Puja to complete the vrat in a proper spiritual manner.
Key Rituals of Ekadashi Vrat Udyapan Puja:
- Early morning bath and house purification.
- Altar setup with Lord Vishnu’s idol or photo.
- Chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama or Ekadashi Vrat Katha.
- Offering Tulsi leaves, sweets, fruits, and Panchamrit.
- Organizing a Satvik bhojan (vegetarian meal) for Brahmins or needy people.
- Charity or donations to poor, cows, or temples as per one’s capacity.
It is believed that completing the Ekadashi Vrat with Udyapan brings divine blessings, peace, and spiritual merit. It also frees the devotee from past sins and leads them closer to moksha (liberation).
